There is a lot of information and misinformation out there about types of septic systems as well as how to maintain them.  Below we will answer many frequently asked questions and outline some tips for the maintenance and care of your septic system.  If you don't see what you're looking for then just contact us and we'll be happy to help.

Do the advertised septic additives really help my septic system?

The answer is a big fat NO! Never put any of the commercially advertised additives in your septic system.  Septic systems are designed to work most efficiently from the naturally occurring bacteria already produced and present in the waste water going into the system.  Adding any additional yeasts or bacterias to your system could actually prevent your system from working as it should and cause you otherwise unnecessary filtration clogs and/or repairs

  • Don't flush paper towels or feminine products. 
  • Don't pour harsh chemicals down the drain, such as large amounts of bleach or ammonia, pesticides, paint, paint, thinner, disinfectants, etc.
  • Don't pour oils or grease down the drain.
  • Don't have a "laundry day".  Spread out your wash cycles throughout the week trying to stay away from peak water usage hours (shower/bath time).
